Pastoral Care is most directly the work of the clergy of the parish and the Parish Health and Wellness Ministry. It is supported by the Pastoral Care Committee, whose chair is Karen Swan. Clergy visit hospitals, homes, healthcare facilities and rehabilitation communities.
Saint Martin’s Church engages in the offering of Burial Rites to the families of parishioners. The parish has a Memorial Garden on its grounds and a Columbarium in the narthex. Other pastoral offices as included in the prayer book are also offered.
In the past, ministries have included the knitting of prayer shawls for shut-ins and the chronically ill, as well as other home-made gestures of care and kindness. Currently the pastoral care ministry provides gifts for the baptized, sends out comfort cards and other communications, and keeps (through the Daughters of the King) an intercessory prayer list.
